Position Summary

TrueForge is seeking a DevOps Engineer to build and maintain the infrastructure that underpins our legacy modernization projects. You will implement modern DevOps practices to ensure reliable, efficient deployment and operation of both existing legacy systems and newly modernized applications.

About the Role

In this role, you will be at the center of our development and deployment processes, bridging the gap between software development and IT operations. You’ll design and optimize CI/CD pipelines, manage cloud and on-premises infrastructure, and work closely with development teams to automate and streamline the delivery of software. Your work will enable the team to deliver modernized systems faster and with confidence in their stability and performance.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, implement, and maintain continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment.
  • Manage and monitor cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or similar) and on-premises servers to ensure high availability and scalability.
  • Containerize applications and orchestrate deployments using tools like Docker and Kubernetes, enabling legacy applications to run in modern environments.
  • Implement infrastructure-as-code (using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation) to provision and configure environments consistently and repeatably.
  • Collaborate with development and QA teams to streamline release processes and quickly resolve any deployment or environment issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure a stable, secure production environment through proactive monitoring, logging, and incident response.
  • Optimize system performance and resource utilization by tuning servers, databases, and network configurations.
  • Oversee configuration management to maintain consistency across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Drive the adoption of DevOps best practices, continually seeking ways to improve automation and reduce manual effort.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and deployment issues promptly to minimize downtime.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong background in DevOps or systems administration with hands-on experience managing cloud infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or GitHub Actions.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) in production environments.
  • Scripting and automation skills (e.g. Bash, Python, or PowerShell) to automate tasks and manage configurations.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, and a focus on reliability, scalability, and security.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 4+ years of experience in a DevOps, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), or similar role.
  • Hands-on experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and using configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible, Chef, or Terraform).
  • Proficiency with container technologies (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes).
  • Strong understanding of Linux/Unix systems, networking fundamentals, and security best practices.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, ELK stack, etc.) and experience integrating them into operations is a plus.
